On September 20, 2024, under the title "Inclusive Transitions: people with intellectual disabilities facing the challenges of the 21st century", the 10th Family and Disability Conference took place, organized by the Family and Disability Education and Research Program: Repsol Foundation-Down Madrid of the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas.

This event brought together experts, academics, and representatives from various organizations to reflect on the challenges and opportunities that people with intellectual disabilities currently face.

The opening session was given by Mar de Andrés, Director of Social Transformation at the Repsol Foundation, Ignacio Egea, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Down Madrid Foundation, and Ana Berástegui, Director of the Institute of Family Studies and the Family and Disability Education and Research Program: Repsol Foundation-Down Madrid.

Throughout the morning, several round tables and conferences that tackled crucial topics were held.

In the first table entitled "Transition to adult life in the 21st century", aspects such as the acceptance of disability, gender equality, and the challenges of mental health after the pandemic were discussed.

In the next table entitled "Digital transition and socio-occupational challenges", participants discussed topics such as the rights of people with disabilities in the digital economy, inclusion through artificial intelligence, and the impact of social media.

Afterwards, Miguel Ángel Carvajal from APAFAM gave a presentation on eco-inclusion, and to finish the conference, a round table was carried out on the environmental transition and green employment.

With its presence in this conference, the Repsol Foundation reaffirms its commitment to social inclusion and the support for people with intellectual disabilities, working together with institutions and organizations to build a more inclusive and more sustainable future.
