The first edition of Green Future in Ação in Portugal comes to an end

The two projects selected were "Hillside + Green" (Encosta + Verde) and "Recycling is a Way to Plant" (Ao reciclar pode plantar).

The Green Future Project in Açao (Futuro Verde em Ação), an initiative by the Repsol Foundation and Ajuda em Ação in Portugal, aims to encourage entrepreneurship and sustainable development in the towns of Tomar, Abrantes, Sardoal, and Mação through the training of young people aged 15 to 25, especially those in socially vulnerable situations.

The first project selected was "Hillside + Green," an initiative by young people in Abrantes that has revitalized green spaces in and around the neighborhood of Encosta da Barata. This was achieved with the planting of 285 plants and rounds of garbage collection, which have regreened the area while promoting sustainable habits.

The second winning initiative was "Recycling is a Way to Plant." Here, young people from the town of Vale das Mós in Abrantes organized a door-to-door garbage collection, offering seeds and bulbs in return. The project also included the incorporation of sustainable lighting at the town's panoramic swing, as well as for fountains and the swimming pool complex.

After the success of this first edition, Ajuda en Acción and the Repsol Foundation will hold the second edition of the project in 2025 in the towns of Castanheira de Pera and Figueiró dos Vinhos, where they will continue involving young people in the development of their communities and commit to the sustainable development of these rural areas.
