The Repsol Foundation and Faconauto renew their strategic agreement to continue promoting the transformation of mobility within the framework of the energy transition

Fundación Repsol y Faconauto renuevan su acuerdo estratégico para seguir impulsando la transformación de la movilidad en el marco de la transición energética
  • The Repsol Foundation and Faconauto have renewed their strategic agreement today with the aim of continuing to promote the transformation of mobility within the framework of the energy transition.
  • The signing of the renewal of the agreement took place at an event held today in Madrid attended by Antonio Brufau, Repsol Chairman, and Marta Blázquez, Faconauto Chairwoman, within the framework of the annual Faconauto Congress, which was inaugurated by the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu.
  • This renewed agreement underlines the commitment of both entities to continue leading the transformation of the sector, the debate, and the spreading of knowledge on the major challenges facing mobility in the coming decades within the framework of the energy transition.

The Repsol Foundation and Faconauto (Federation of Automotive Authorized Dealers' Associations) have renewed their collaboration agreement for the third consecutive year to promote sustainable mobility within the framework of a more efficient, fair, and inclusive energy transition.

Both entities seek to promote debate on the major challenges that mobility will face in the coming years by holding conferences, studies, joint reports, events, as well as training activities through Open Room, the Repsol Foundation's digital platform on energy transition, the Repsol Foundation's Energy Transition Education and Research Program, and Faconauto University.

The agreement was signed by Repsol Chairman, Antonio Brufau, and Faconauto Chairwoman, Marta Blázquez, at the 2025 Faconauto Congress, the most important automotive event in our country, with around 2,000 professionals from the sector in attendance.

Repsol Chairman, Antonio Brufau, stressed that “The automotive sector is a great example of our country's industry. Its value chain represents 10% of GDP and Faconauto is a very relevant part with more than 3% involving more than 2,000 dealers, 5,000 sale points, and generating more than 160,000 jobs.

This sector has made a huge investment effort in quality, safety, efficiency, and technology. In terms of emissions, this industry has enabled a reduction in CO2 emissions from new passenger cars by approximately 20%”.

“Europe has the opportunity to save a “match point',” said the Repsol chairman. The prognosis of Enrico Letta, Mario Draghi, and other EU strategists is very clear: now we only have to advance to implementation if we want to regain our importance and leadership in our region. The importance and leadership that we should never have lost.

We need to do this with a stable and simpler regulatory framework that supports innovation and technology, that objectively supports businesses, and that protects the strategic sectors that create wealth, modernity, and employment.”

Marta Blázquez also highlighted that “Mobility is undergoing an unprecedented transformation, driven by the urgency of moving towards a more sustainable and decarbonized model. In this process, it is essential not only to generate projects that explain the change, but also to contribute to an informed and rational public debate.

In this sense, the renewal of the agreement with the Repsol Foundation represents a key step towards making visible the crucial role that we, as dealers, play in the energy transition. Our work goes far beyond offering new vehicles; we are strategic players in building more inclusive, efficient, and accessible mobility for all. Furthermore, as an employers' association, we are proud that this agreement has a tangible impact: thanks to the Repsol Foundation’s Green Engine project, Faconauto now has a forest with 2,300 trees, which will contribute to the absorption of 550 tonnes of CO₂, reaffirming our real commitment to sustainability.”

With this renewed alliance, the Repsol Foundation and Faconauto reinforce their commitment to sustainable transport and the energy transition as key drivers of economic prosperity and job creation.

Faconauto Forest in the Green Engine project

Once again this year, Faconauto is participating in the Repsol Foundation and Grupo Sylvestris’ Green Engine initiative as a demonstration of the automotive sector's commitment to the environment and society.

Faconauto participates in a forest in Caminomorisco (Cáceres) to mitigate the carbon footprint generated at this year's Faconauto Congress. This is the third year that Faconauto has participated in the project, to which it has already contributed by planting more than 2,300 trees that will absorb up to 550 tonnes of CO2.

The Green Engine project has already reforested more than 5,000 hectares in different parts of the Iberian Peninsula and in the coming years it aims to reforest more than 70,000 hectares of vacant or burnt land, generating inclusive employment and economic development in the areas where it operates.
