Combustibles renovables

Pillar for the decarbonization and sustainability of industry and transport.

Aim of the education and research program:

The “Renewable Fuels” Education and Research Program aims to promote greater knowledge about renewable fuels, encouraging the implementation of renewable fuels to contribute to a future with net-zero emissions.

Why renewable fuels?

The path towards climate neutrality involves seeking sustainable alternatives in industry and mobility, developing new technologies and innovative solutions such as renewable fuels.

This Education and Research Program seeks to offer a space for dissemination, research, and debate to address recent advances in carbon-neutral fuel production technologies; their development potential, current technological and economic barriers, research opportunities, and the policies and regulations required to foster the development of renewable fuels.

Lines of work

  • Renewable fuels and their evolution: the different routes for the production of renewable fuels are studied and analyzed, including the resources used and their availability, conversion technologies, and final products.
  • Advanced biofuels: advanced biofuels obtained from biomass are studied in detail throughout their value chain, the raw materials, the available conversion technologies, and the final product and its applications.
  • Synthetic fuels or eFuels: synthetic fuels obtained from renewable electricity are studied in detail, including the different stages of the value chain, raw materials, available conversion technologies and their degree of development, and the final product and its applications.

Furthermore, a Renewable Fuels Observatory will be established in which a scientific and technological analysis of the Education and Research Program’s lines of knowledge will be carried out.
